Justice Quazi Md Reza-Ul Hoque and Justice Mohammad Ullah passed the order over a public litigation suit on Monday.

They also issued a rule asking why the hospital authorities’ inaction or inability to repair its morgue should not be declared illegal.

The judges asked for a report on measures taken to implement the order within 60 days.

Justice Watch Foundation Executive Director Mahfuzur Rahman Milon filed the suit following media reports on the run-down freezers and air-conditioners in DMCH morgue.

Referring to the reports, Milon, a lawyer, said 25 bodies were 'rotting' in the morgue.

"Even the morgue workers, who are used to see decomposed bodies, cannot tolerate unpleasant odour or see these bodies," he added.
