Haimchar Upazila Chairman Noor Hossain Patwary has been ordered to surrender to the Chandpur' chief judicial magistrate's court by four weeks.

The court's order came on Wednesday after disposing of a previous rule following a petition by one of the student's guardian.

A video and photos of Patwary walking on the backs of students at local school's annual sports day on Jan 30 created a firestorm on the social media.

A guardian of a student lodged a police complaint against Patwary and the school authorities following the incident.

The Local Government Division formed a committee to investigate the matter, which found Patwary and two others responsible.

On Mar 29, Patwary surrendered in Chandpur court, which granted bail to him until police file the chargesheet.

A student's guardian moved the High Court with a petition seeking an order to cancel the bail.

On Apr 25, the High Court issued a rule asking why bail granted to Patwary will not be scrapped and ordered several concerned, including the Chandpur deputy commissioner to come up with explanations.

The rule was disposed of on Wednesday, when the court ordered the Haimchar Upazila chairman to turn himself in.
