Sweden lauds Bangladesh's joining in ‘Global Deal Initiative’

Outgoing Swedish Ambassador Johan Frisell has lauded Bangladesh's decision to join ‘The Global Deal Initiative’.

It is a social dialogue to ensure safe and decent work environment for the workers, and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is very keen on the issue.

He also appreciated Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali for holding of the 9th Global Forum on Migration and Development or GFMD Summit in Dhaka where Swedish migration minister led his country's delegation.

The ambassador paid a farewell call on the foreign minister at the latter’s office on Sunday.

The foreign ministry said during the meeting he also expressed “gratitude” for Bangladesh’s support to the Swedish candidature for the non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.

He also praised the government’s effort to tackle the situation after July terrorist attack at a Gulshan café.

The foreign minister also praised for the ambassador’s “commendable effort to create active and dynamic relations between Bangladesh and Sweden”.

Referring to his visit to Sweden in September, and the visit by the prime minister in June this year, he said that the relations had reached to “a new height”.

“Sheikh Hasina always attaches great importance to ties with Sweden and other Nordic countries and keen on further strengthening the relations,” the foreign minister added.
