Missing schoolboy found dead in Cox’s Bazar river

Police have pulled up the body of a schoolboy, who went missing on Monday, from Bakkhali River in Cox’s Bazar.

The 11-year-old Abu Bakkar was found dead on Tuesday afternoon by the Fire Service personnel.

Bakkar, a fifth grader of a local school in Ramu Upazila, went to bathe in the river with his friends on Monday, the day Eid-ul-Fitr was held in Bangladesh.

Quoting Bakkar’s friends, Ramu Upazila Chiarman Reazul Alam said Bakkar drowned at one point of bathing.

“Cox’s Bazar Fire Service and Civil Defence started a search the same day and finally found the body in the river’s Omkhali portion.”

The body was handed to his family, he said.
