Raj Ballav Pramanik, the manager of bdnews24.com’s accounts division, has died.

Pramanik passed away while undergoing treatment at Dhaka’s Dr Shirajul Islam Medical College Hospital at 3:40am on Sunday. He was 66.

“Father was suffering from prostate cancer,” said his son-in-law, Biltu Saha. “He was admitted to Sirajul Islam Medical in Malibagh after his condition deteriorated on Thursday.”

Raj Ballav Pramanik had been with bdnews24.com for over a decade and was known to his colleagues as ‘Raju Da’.

“He was a skilled manager,” said a spokesperson for bdnews24.com. “He was well loved by his colleagues. The bdnews24.com family is stricken by the loss.”

From the hospital the body was taken to Pramanik’s home in Mugda, where neighbours and local residents came to pay last respects.

In the morning an ambulance carried the body to Pramanik’s home village in Tangail’s Nagarpur. His last rites will be held there on Sundayafternoon.

Raj Ballav Pramanik was born on Mar 17, 1951 in Nagarpur and completed his Masters in Accounting  from Jagannath College in 1974. The next year he joined Punthighar Limited as an accountant.

Throughout his career Pramanik worked at Business International Limited, Bangladesh Oilfield Services Limited and various other institutions. In 2006 he joined bdnews24.com as it began its journey.

Pramanik played football during his student years and was loved the sport. He was also involved in a number of social, cultural and professional organisations.

He leaves behind his wife Shima Pramanik, son Dr Shoraj Kanti Pramanik and daughter Mukta Saha Pramanik, and many others.
