He says there was 'no gridlock' on the highways, but the vehicles are 'moving slowly in two or one places'.

Traffic congestions were reported on Thursday and Friday morning at Meghna Bridge on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway that links 21 southern districts with the capital.

Vehicles are moving slowly on Dhaka-Tangail Highway due to development work at a 40-kilometre stretch of the road to northern districts.

"There is no traffic jam in Bangladesh at this very moment (5pm). Vehicles are moving slowly in two or one places but enjoying high-speed travel elsewhere. No vehicle is stuck in any gridlock," said Quader on Friday.

He was speaking to reporters while visiting Sayedabad Bus Terminal in the capital.

He also said 'many people' told him on the phone after reaching home that the roads were 'better' than before.

The minister thinks the homebound people will not suffer much if there is no rain.

"The journeys this time are more comforting, thanks to the relentless efforts by supervisory agencies, owners, and workers," he said.
