Child among 2 dead in Matuail bus crash
Two people have died after a bus overturned in Dhaka’s Matuail area.

The dead passengers have been identified as Monirul Islam and ‘Poppy’, a 12-year-old, said Jatrabari Police Sub-Inspector of Abul Kalam.
At least 12 more people have been injured in the incident from Saddam Market area on Dhaka-Chittagong highway around 6:30am, he said.
“The Ekushey Dream transport bus was headed from Dhaka to Noakhali. It hit a tree after veering off the road while trying to evade an auto-rickshaw,” said SI Kalam.
Rescue efforts began when fire service units and police rushed to the scene to retrieve the bodies and send the injured to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said Ali Akbar, Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s assistant commissioner for Demra region.
Traffic on the highway was halted for some time but it resumed soon after the overturned bus was removed, he added.
