Bangladesh bagged 190 votes while its South Asian contenders Nepal and Pakistan polled 173 and 150 votes respectively in the election held in Geneva, Switzerland on Monday night, the labour ministry's spokesperson Aktarul Islam told bdnews24.com.

Law Minister Anisul Huq and State Minister for Labour and Employment Mujibul Haque, now visiting Switzerland, met ILO Director-General Guy Ryder at the UN office in Geneva, the ministry said in a statement.

They discussed progress in implementing labour laws in Bangladesh.

The statement said the ministers told the ILO chief that the government had taken steps to amend labour laws following the organisation's advice.
