In his budget speech in parliament on Thursday, he said the government’s “efforts are continuing to expand labour and commodity markets in new countries to sustain the pace of economic development of our country”.

“As part of this, we will hold overseas trade fairs while strengthening diplomatic efforts to ensure duty-free access for Bangladeshi products and explore labour markets abroad,” he said.

“As part of bilateral and multilateral diplomatic efforts, we will take steps to further strengthen bilateral relationship through Foreign Office Consultation (FOC) with different countries, meetings on bilateral issues, exchange of visits and signing of agreements.

“In terms of sub-regional cooperation, SASEC (South Asia Sub-regional Economic Cooperation) is playing a vital role. I gratefully acknowledge the support of Asian Development Bank in this connection,” Muhith said.
