Policeman shot outside PM residence succumbs to injuries

A policeman, who was shot outside near the prime minister's residence, has succumbed to his injuries while being treated at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital or DMCH.

Atiqur Rahman, a nayek at the Special Security and Protection Battalion or SPBn, was shot late Friday while on duty at the northern entrance of the Ganabhaban.
 
DMCH police camp's Sub Inspector Bachchu Mia said that he was shot near the mosque at the entrance around 11:45pm.
 

Shahbagh police OC Md Abul Hasan said he was rushed to DMCH where he died around 1:30am.
It is yet to be clear how Nayek Rahman was shot, but OC Hasan said they suspect he was hit by a bullet fired from his own gun.
The SPBn is tasked with providing security for the VVIPs.
