Early Friday, marketing student Nazmul Hasan Rana and the microbiology department's Arafat died after a bus ran over them on the highway in front of the campus.

Students are enraged by the university authorities' decision to send the bodies to the families without funeral prayers on the campus.

They blocked the highway for an hour on Friday and resumed demonstrations around 12pm on Saturday

Despite several attempts, the university authorities failed to remove the demonstrators from the highway.

Around 5pm, police fired teargas shells and charged batons to disperse the protesters.
