Ramadan starts in Saudi Arabia, other Middle-East countries Saturday

Muslims in Saudi Arabia and other Middle-East countries will start fasting from dawn to dusk for the month of Ramadan on Saturday.

The authorities in Saudi Arabia announced the date after the Ramadan moon was not sighted on Thursday, according to Arab News.

Kahleej Times and Gulf Mews said the other countries in the Middle East also announced the same decision.

According to the Arab News, astronomer Khalid Al-Zaaq, a member of the Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences, said in a series of tweets that this year’s Ramadan will begin and end on Saturdays, which makes it a 29-day month.

In that case, the Eid-ul-Fitr will probably be held on June 25 in the Middle East.

Generally, Ramadan starts and Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha are celebrated in Bangladesh a day after Saudi Arabia.
