Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Delwar Hossain approved the petition by Dhaka Metropolitan police (DMP) Victim Support Centre Inspector Ismet Ara Emi on Sunday.

Permission was sought to send five mobile phone sets and a power bank confiscated from the suspects during the investigation to the CID forensic labs, court police General Registration Officer Sub-Inspector Abdul Mannan told bdnews24.com.

The case alleges that Shafat’s bodyguard Rahmat Ali took a video on a mobile phone during the rape.

According to the case documents, on Mar 28 two university students were trapped in a room at Banani’s Raintree hotel, raped and tortured by Shafat Ahmed, the son of Apan Jewellers co-owner Dildar Ahmed, and his friend Nayeem Asraf alias Halim.

Shadman Sakif, the son of Regnum Group and Picasso restaurant owner Mohammad Hossain Jony, Shafat’s driver Billal Hossain and his bodyguard Rahmat Ali are accused of abetting the crime.

The case was filed at the Banani police station on May 6 and Shafat, Nayeem, Sakif, Billal Hossain and Rahmat Ali were named as suspects.

All of the accused have been arrested. Shafat and Sakif have ‘confessed’ to the rape at the court under section 164.
