28 'homosexual’ youths arrested in Keraniganj

The Rapid Action Battalion or RAB has arrested 28 'homosexual' youths in a community centre in Dhaka’s Keraniganj.

They used Chhayaneer Community Centre in Antibazar as a hangout for homosexual activities, said RAB-10 Commander Jahangir Hossain Matubbor.

The arrestees are aged between 20 and 22, he said.

"These men have been coming here from parts of the country for the last two months to spend the nights. We raided the community centre early Friday, based on complaints by locals.”

"They've told us they took part in homosexual activities. We have found drugs, condoms and lubricants with them. Most of them are students."

The arrestees will be faced with drug charges, he said.

Homosexuality is illegal in Bangladesh.
