The Anti-Corruption Commission filed the case against BNP chief Khaleda Zia’s former adviser with Ramna Police on Monday.

The wealth statement Falu submitted to the anti-graft watchdog last year was for Tk 1.47 billion, said ACC spokesperson Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya.

“But there is no known source of income for Tk 170 million of that sum. Besides that, he has provided baseless and false information in the statement.”

The NTV chairman resigned from the post of BNP vice-chairman after the party announced its new full committee in August last year.

Before he was made an adviser to Khaleda on the party’s previous committee, Falu worked as her personal secretary. He was also elected to parliament in a by-election in Dhaka.

In the wealth statement he submitted to the ACC in October last year following a notice, Falu said he owned un-movable assets worth Tk 357.8 million and movable assets worth Tk 1.11 billion.

He said he earned Tk 1.67 billion between 2007-2008 fiscal year and 2016-2017 from various sources including fees from several organisations, houses, interests on bank deposits, dividends, share business profit, sale of flats, insurance claims, land lease, loans, fishery and dairy farm.

The ACC said in the case that it found no document on Falu's fishery and dairy farm's registration or inspection by the fisheries and livestock departments. Falu said in the statement he earned Tk 35.7 million from the fishery and the farm.

He did not cite any specific information on the miscellaneous income of over Tk 300,000, according to the case dossier.

The ACC also said he could not show proper accounts or records of sources of Tk 178.66 million, including Tk 135 million from Roza Properties.
