The haul was attached beneath a seat of a US-Bangla Airlines aircraft, which arrived in Dhaka from Kolkata Monday afternoon, Dhaka Customs House Assistant Commissioner Shahidul Islam said.

He told bdnews24.com that 60 gold bars, each weighing 116 grams, were found under the seat.‎

The estimated market price of the recovered gold is Tk 35 million, he said.

Smuggled gold found in aircraft from the Middle-East is common in Dhaka airport, but a haul from India is rare.
