A senior official at the foreign ministry told bdnews24.com that he came in a Thai Airways flight from Bangkok at 10:45pm on Wednesday.

The foreign ministry’s Director General (Europe) Mohammad Khorshed Alam Khastagir received him at the airport.

Cameron, who resigned as prime minister last year after Brexit voting, will take a look at a DFID project inside Dhaka and attend a roundtable of the International Growth Centre.

He will also meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The Growth Centre is based at the London School of Economics and in partnership with the University of Oxford, it works to promote sustainable growth in developing countries, based on 'high quality research'.

Cameron is the chair of a commission which was launched in March under this Growth Centre. It has an office in Dhaka.

He had earlier informed the Bangladesh High Commission in London about his trip and his desire to meet the prime minister.
