The Harry Potter star recalled the garment factory disaster that made ripples across the globe in a tweet on Tuesday.
Watson had been active in spreading awareness about fair trade and visited Bangladesh in 2010 as part of her activities for People’s Tree, a UK retailer that promotes manufacturing ethics.
The 27-year-old British actor, also a UN goodwill ambassador, shared a video by Andrew Morgan who directed the film True Cost after the 2013 disaster.
The film explores the repercussions of the building collapse that left more than 1100 workers dead outside Dhaka.
True Cost features interviews of garment workers and factory owners in Bangladesh, India, Cambodia and China, and cotton farmers in US.
Rana Plaza, a building that housed five garment factories, collapsed on Apr 24, 2013, plunging Bangladesh’s lifeline industry heavily reliant on foreign sentiments into crisis.
In the video, Morgan remembers the disaster as a “powerful and poignant reminder of what’s at stake and what gets lost in a world that only measures profit".
