The two were detained in Ghoraghat Upazila early on Monday, said RAB-13 Captain BM Atikullah.

They have been identified as Md Selim, 28, and Khademul Islam, 27.

“RAB conducted a raid early on Monday morning after receiving a tip that Khademul had come to meet Selim at the Darulhuda Fazil Madrasa,” said RAB official Atikullah.

“These two active JMB members were arrested around 3:30 am in the madrasa area. An initial interrogation found that they are members of Neo-JMB’s Sarwar-Tamim Group.”

Selim would secretly raise funds, recruit activists for JMB and campaign on their behalf in the area, the RAB official said. He also had a criminal case filed against him at Chiribondor Police Station.

“Khademul would occasionally meet with him to discuss the organisation’s plans. They were planning a major incident in the area.”

The two were sent to prison on Monday afternoon after cases were filed against them, the RAB official added.
