The death toll in last week’s boiler blast at a Dinajpur rice mill has risen to 13.

Of the eight other victims currently under treatment, six are still critical.

Monoronjon Ray, 36, succumbed to his burns around 8:30 am on Monday, said Rangpur Medical College Hospital Burn and Plastic Surgery Division Chief Dr Maruful Islam.

“Eight other victims of the blast are still in our care,” he said. “Six of them are critical and three of them are currently admitted to the Intensive Monitoring Centre. The condition of the remaining two seems to be improving.”

Ripon Miah, 40, who was undergoing treatment at Dinajpur’s M Abdur Rahim Medical, passed away on Sunday night.

A five-member investigation team led by Dinajpur Additional District Magistrate Mahbubur Rahman are conducting a probe into the incident.
