MV Mamun-Masud-1 collided head-on with a passenger vessel operated by Green Line Waterways, Police Sub-Inspector Shafiqul Islam said.

No-one was hurt in the accident that took place shortly after 3pm.

The vessel, carrying 525 tonnes of coal, was heading toward Noapara in Khulna, while Green Line was transporting about 400 passengers to Dhaka from Barisal.

The Green Line vessel, which suffered damage to its hull, managed to anchor itself to the riverside letting passengers disembark, said Badsha Miah, manager of the launch for Barisal.
