They were arrested at different parts of Jalalabad on Saturday evening after Maj Abdul Aziz of the Jalalabad cantonment filed a case, said Kotowali Model Police Station OC Sohel Ahammed.

“The court ordered their imprisonment on Sunday,” he said.

Those detained have been identified as former Ward – 22 BCL former president Asaduzzaman Khan Jewel and BCL activists Habibur Rahman Pabel, Saidul Islam and Maksud Ahmed.

On the evening of April 6 Maj Abdul Aziz had left his home in a private car, when the accused tried to overtake him on a motorcycle.

“Due to the narrow road , they could not get overtake him and so vandalised the car. When Aziz tried to put stop them, he was knifed.

Locals took him to Osmani Medical College Hospital for treatment.”

Maj Aziz accused seven BCL activists in the case.

The matter is unfortunate, says Sylhet Metropolitan BCL President Abdul Bashit Rumman.

BCL had caused disruptions in the city earlier that day over a separate incident.

He called for the release of the four activists if they were found not involved in the incident.
