He died at Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka at 12:10am on Friday, RAB spokesperson Mufti Mahmud Khan told bdnews24.com.

Azad was brought back on Wednesday from Singapore, where he was taken for better treatment. His condition did not change in Singapore, RAB Media Wing chief Khan earlier said quoting doctors at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in the city state.

Khan also said a splinter pierced his head, which was the 'most critical' injury he suffered.

Six people were killed and at least 40 others, including the RAB intel chief, injured in two blasts in Sylhet on Mar 25.

Azad was first taken to Sylhet's MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital where he underwent several surgeries. Doctors said he suffered splinter injuries all over his body. He was transferred to CMH in Dhaka first and then to Singapore.

Born in 1975, Azad hails from Shibganj in Chanpainawabganj.

He studied MA in English under the National University.

Commissioned in 1996, the 34th BMA Long Course official joined the elite force in 2011 as RAB-12 company commander.

He was made a deputy director of the intelligence wing later in the same year, and director in 2013.

He left behind his wife, two sons, and a daughter.
