Heavy rains damaged a bridge at hilly terrain of Madhabpur Upazila’s Itakhalo, said the railway's Deputy Assistant Engineer Ruhul Amin Khan, who is based at Shaestaganj Upazila.

Train communications have been suspended since 10 am on Thursday, he told bdnews24.com. “Repairs are underway on the bridge, services will resume after it's finished.”

Khan, however, was unable to offer a time frame for when repairs could be completed.
