At least 11 others are still missing in the accident on Tuesday, when an engine run boat sank in the Panguchhi River at the southern district's Morrelganj Upazila.

Officials said six bodies were recovered between 7 and 8am on Thursday within two km off the scene.

They include five males, aged between 40 and 50 years old and a child, said Navy Commander Md Shahriar Akan.

The naval officer is leading the rescue operation conducting jointly by the navy, coast guards, fire service and police along with the locals.

Police are yet to issue an official statement over how the trawler, with at least 50 people on board, sank around 10:30 am on Tuesday.

Witnesses said heavy currents caused by another speedy vessel led to its sinking.
