The fire caused a damage of 'approximately Tk 8 million', the central bank's spokesperson Shubhankar Saha said at a press conference on Wednesday, a day after the committee submitted the report.

"No official document was damaged in the fire," he said.

He said the damage was assessed in line with the purchase value of the burnt materials.

The committee, headed by Ahmed Jamal, an executive director of the bank, also mentioned that an electric kettle was found where the fire started.

It recommended not to use such electric equipment in the building.

It also recommended reviewing the existing fire safety system at the building, replacing it if necessary, and appointing a fire safety officer.

Shubhankar said the authorities already started to switch off all the power lines except those for security lights after the office hour.
