16-year old Md Sajib Miah, who died after the attack,  hailed from Kishoreganj and lived with his sister in Dhaka.

Sajib had studied up to eighth standard at the Holy Crescent School in Shaoraparha, his brother-in-law Al Mahmud Babu told bdnews24.com. He had dropped out and was looking for work, he said.

“Sajib was often seen with a local named ‘Sourav’,” he said. “Around 11pm on Tuesday Sourav and two of his friends attacked Sajib and left him bleeding on the road.”

Sajib passed away at Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 8am on Wednesday, said DMCH Police Outpost SI Md Bacchu Miah.

“Sajib had injuries inflicted by a sharp weapon on his shoulders and back,” he said.

Sajib was the youngest of five siblings – two brothers and three sisters. His brother-in-law could not provide a motive for the murder.
