The university's Pro Vice-Chancellor Md Akhtaruzzaman said the decision to sack Professor Md Shahadat Hossain was taken at Monday's Syndicate meeting.

Professor Shahadat was sent on compulsory leave on July 21 last year when the allegations against him surfaced.

The female harassment prevention cell was tasked with investigating the allegations brought by two students of the department.

Vice-Chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique said the students levelled the charges on June 27.

Shahadat could not be reached immediately for comment.

After the decision to send him on forced leave was taken, he had dismissed the allegations.

“I am totally innocent. The allegations aim at undermining my reputation. Many envy me because of my professional achievements. So, they have made the two former students accuse me,” he had told bdnews24.com.
