One found dead after ‘shootout’ in Jessore’s Sharsha

A bullet ridden body was found after a ‘shootout between two groups’ in Jessore’s Sharsha, say police.

The ‘shootout’ occurred around 6am on Tuesday at the Upazila’s Shikri Bottala area, said Benapole Port Police Station SI Matiur Rahman.

The deceased, 42-year-old ‘Selim’ is a resident of Bhabarberh village in the Benapole border region.

“Police received word of a shootout between rival drug gangs around dawn,” said SI Matiur. “Selim’s body was found at the scene.”

Police recovered a firearm and two bullets from the scene. ‘Selim’ has been accused in several drug cases.
