Sir Alan Meale MP and an organisation named Pride of Mother Tongue-UK jointly arranged the programme mark the day - Feb 21.
Tulip Siddiq MP and Bangladesh High Commissioner to the UK Md. Nazmul Quaunine also spoke on the historical contribution of Bangalee nation in establishing Bangla as their mother language, the High Commission said.
They also lauded Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s leadership to make the day Feb 21 as International Mother Language Day.
Children of Bangladesh community in London, and members of different social and community groups, among others, attended the programme.
