Saira Noor, 21, was training at the Aviation Academy in California when her aircraft crashed at the rugged Pamo Valley, north of Ramona in the state on Sunday.

Two other male passengers, presumably the trainer and another trainee, survived the crash with minor injuries, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Saira’s friend Desai Subham, who is also a trainee in the same aviation academy, confirmed the accident and her death to ABC News.

Saira’s father is a pilot in Bangladesh, and she wanted to pursue his career.

Her flight had started at Gillespie Field in El Cajon. The plane carrying the three was affiliated with the American Aviation Academy, a flight school based in El Cajon, the newspaper reported.

According to the report, the two survivors — a 25-year-old man and a 28-year-old man — called 911 about 2:30pm, local sheriff Sergeant Andrew Mowins said.

They did not know exactly where they were, and it took sheriff and fire officials about an hour to find them and the crash site in the Pamo Valley, north of Ramona, Sanchez said.

The two men were taken to a hospital with moderate injuries, California Fire Captain Issac Sanchez said.

Efforts to recover the wreckage and the woman’s body were suspended at nightfall but will resume in the morning.

The US Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash.

Mark Hannawa, a recruiter and student liaison at the flight school, confirmed that the plane was one of the school’s aircraft.

He declined further comment, citing the investigation.
