Man accused of biting off part of BCL leader’s ear

A former Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leader has accused a local man of biting off part of his ear.

The victim, forty-six year old Subhash Ray, is currently under treatment at Netrokona Sadar Hospital.

A part of Subhash’s left ear has been torn off, said the hospital’s Resident Medical Officer Mustafizur Rahman. He was admitted to the hospital around midnight on Sunday.

Subhash was the district BCL’s general secretary. He is currently the president of the Shahid Jhantu Saha Smriti Sangsad.

“We were attacked in front of our house in Netrokona’s Borobazar area around 11:30pm on Sunday,” Subhash told bdnews24.com. “The attackers were led by local resident Gopal Krishna Saha, with whom I had a running feud .”

“The group beat me and my older brother Babul Ray. My ear was bitten and severed before they fled.”

Gopal Krishna is a member of the local Red Crescent Society.

Subhash Ray has filed a case against Gopal Krishna and his four brothers, said Netrokona Model Police Station OC Abu Taher Dewan.

The suspects have been missing since the attack.

Police are investigating the matter and trying to arrest them, OC Dewan said.
