They came back a day after the two others had returned following alleged abduction

They were allegedly picked up by a group of men on Jan 9, ten days after the murder of Awami League MP Manjurul Islam Liton in adjacent Sundarganj Upazila.

Sadullapur Upazila Awami League's Publicity Secretary Maidul Islam Prince and Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal Vice President Shafiul Islam Shapla returned home early on Saturday.

Sadullapur Upazila Juba League Vice-President Monwarul Hasan Mondol and Damodarpur Union's former Bangladesh Chhatra League leader Sadequl Islam Sadeq, who had also gone missing, have already come back.

The two returned safely in the wee hours of Thursday, but said they did not remember much about their time in captivity.

Prince and Shapla, who returned on Saturday, also gave a similar version, saying they have no idea who had abducted them or why.

Prince's family told local reporters that the two were freed late on Friday.

"Around 1:30am on Saturday, Prince called me on my phone and said that he and Shapla were at Dinajpur's Parbatipur Upazila. We brought them back from there," said Prince's brother Tariqul Islam Nayan, the local Noldanga Union Parishad chairman and an Awami League leader.

Prince told bdnews24.com that they were driven in a car blindfolded and let go by a group of men on the midnight of Friday.

They were released at a desolate place at Dinajpur's Parbatipur Upazila, he said. "They also returned our motorbikes. We rode to Parbatipur's Taxerhat area and called home."

Shapla said they had no idea where they were held captive and that they were kept in separate places. "We were blindfolded all the time. They even brought in a doctor when I fell ill."

Local police said they were aware of the two returning. "But we are yet to know how it happened," Sadullapur police OC Farhad Islam Kayes said.

Monowar and Sadek were taken away on the night of Jan 9 and Prince and Shapla the next morning.

UP Chairman Nayan had then said his brother was whisked away by men who claimed to be law enforcers.

Prince's family had also made a similar statement after his abduction.

But no law-enforcement agencies had then confirmed of detaining the four.
