The Emirates flight carrying the prime minister left Zurich International Airport at 7:45pm Bangladesh standard time.

She is expected to arrive in Dhaka early on Saturday.

Bangladesh Permanent Ambassador to the UN Shameem Ahsan saw her off at the airport.

Hasina, the first elected leader of Bangladesh to attend the event famed as the 'annual convention of the rich and the mighty', used the meet as an opportunity to brand Bangladesh.

She highlighted her country's stand on a wide range of issues including water management, regional cooperation and workplace environment

The prime minister also took questions that followed these discussions.

Foreign Secretary Md Shahidul Haque believes "Bangladesh has scaled a different level through Davos participation".

He says it has secured a niche for Bangladesh on the 'global investment radar.'

The PMO SDG Affairs Chief Coordinator Abul Kalam Azad observed that the WEF provided Hasina a platform to both share the problems as well as share her suggestions with world leaders on 'how to make the world more livable'.

She also met WEF founder and CEO Karl Schwab on Jan 17 on the sidelines of the four-day meet.
