Mahmoud Ezzat’s Range Rover was confiscated from the house of a businessman at Road 1 in Baridhara Diplomatic Zone on Sunday, said Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Director General Moinul Khan.

The directorate in a media release said the ambassador brought the luxury SUV under duty-free facilities available for diplomats last year.

But for the last few months, the expensive SUV was being used by Intraco Group and Hotel Agrabad Managing Director Huda Al Selim without the papers being updated with payment of stipulated customs duty for personal use, the release added.

Diplomatic missions enjoy duty-free import privilege but when the vehicle is sold or handed over to anyone for personal use, tariff under local rate has to be paid.
