When Mohammad Faruk, the new counsel for Kalyan, filed a bail petition on Sunday, the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Abdullah Al Masud ordered the bail hearing on condition of getting the police report and permission of the previous lawyer for the actor.

This means Kalyan will have to remain in prison, said Prashanta Kumar Karmakar, the lawyer for the plaintiff.

Prothom Alo’s Zia was hit by a car around midnight on Jan 9 in front of the Bashundhara City shopping mall in Dhaka. He was first admitted to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital and shifted to Apollo Hospital next day.

On Jan 13, he was transferred to Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore for treatment after undergoing a brain surgery.

Kalyan in a status on Facebook later wrote, "I am innocent" and Police then called the actor for questioning.

Prothom Alo Manager (Security) Sajjad Ul Kabir initiated a case on behalf of his organisation with the Kalabagan police.

Kalyan was subsequently arrested.

On Jan 11, police produced him before a court and sought remand to quiz him, but the court turned down the petition.
