Myanmar's information ministry said on Friday that they were already handed over to the immigration department for processing.

Myanmar’s Border Guard Police captured the fishermen when they reportedly crossed into their water while fishing on Nov 9 last year, it said in a statement.

The deportee fishermen have been identified as Abdul Hamid, Fajal Ahmed, Mohammad Hashim, Mohammad Saddam, Mohammad Hossain, and Rashid Ullah, all from Saint Martin's Island.

"They were serving jail terms at Buthidaung Prison when they were granted presidential pardon in accordance with the Article 401 (1) of the Code of Criminal Procedure," the statement said.
