Prime Minister inaugurates new BSEC building at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has inaugurated the new Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission building.

The prime minister unveiled the plaque for the new building at Dhaka's Sher-e-Bangla Nagar at 11am on Sunday.

Finance Minister Abul Mal Abdul Muhith and BSEC Chairman M Khairul Hossain were also present.

After the unveiling , Hasina participated in prayers and then launched a nationwide financial literacy programme at the international conference centre.

The new ‘Securities Commission Building’ at Dhaka’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar is build on 0.33 acres of land and cost Tk 445 million.

On Nov 24, 2013 Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had laid the foundation for the building.

The total space in the 10-storey building is 89,250 square feet, according to the design.

Apart from the BSEC offices, the building will house an international standard conference hall, a courtroom for special tribunal trials, a library, a day care centre and a canteen.

Officials have said that the commission’s work will gradually be transferred to the new building from its old Motijheel offices.
