PM special aide Shakil’s namaz-e-janaza held at DU

The namaz-e-janaza of Mahbubul Hoque Shakil has been held in the central mosque at Dhaka University.

The former Bangladesh Chhatra League leader, who studied sociology at the university, was special aide to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. 

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, Presidium members Syed Ashraful Islam, Amir Hossain Amu, Tofail Ahmed, Joint General Secretary Mahbub-Ul Alam Hanif and Jahangir Kabir Nanak were among the ruling party leaders who joined the prayers.

Deputy press secretaries Nazrul Islam and Ashraful Alam Khokon placed flowers on his coffin on behalf of the prime minister’s press wing.

His body was being taken for burial in his hometown at Mymensingh.  

The 47-year-old Shakil was found dead at a Gulshan restaurant on Tuesday.

An autopsy conducted on Wednesday failed to determine the cause of death.

Forensic doctors at Dhaka Medical College Hospital have collected samples of his organs for a viscera examination.
