The former superintendent of police joined as an associate director at Ad-din Hospital since early November.

“The hospital will start a project at Postogola from next year’s February or March. Babul Aktar will work in that project,’ said manager Md Shahjalal Farazi.

Before that, Aktar will be working from the hospital’s Moghbazar office, he told bdnews24.com.

On Jun 5, Aktar’s wife Mahmuda Aktar Mitu was stabbed and shot dead at Chittagong by a group of assailants who stopped her while she was taking her son to a bus stop.

Babul Aktar was then in Dhaka, where he had been posted at the Police Headquarters, after a promotion.

After his wife’s death, the policeman moved to his in-laws’ home with his two children.

There were rumours that the he was questioned over Mitu’s murder at the offices of Detective Branch (DB) for 14 hours on Jun 24.

The media also reported that Babul Aktar was forced to hand in his resignation but none could confirm that.

On Aug 14, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said Babul Aktar’s resignation letter was with him.

A circular issued by the home ministry 22 days later announced his resignation.

Meanwhile, two - Ehteshamul Bhola and Monir Hossain - have been indicted in a weapons case filed over the murder, depositions for which is scheduled to begin on Jan 18.
