The court of Sylhet Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Hakim Saifuddin Hero heard the testimony of 17 witnesses to the attack perpetrated by former Bangladesh Chhatra League leader Badrul Alam on Monday.

According to Additional Public Prosecutor Mahfuzur Rahman, the depositions began at 11:00am with the testimony of Khadiza’s uncle Abdul Kuddus and lasted until 2:00pm.

The court set Dec 11 as the next day for depositions.

Khadiza came under assault on Oct 3 at the Sylhet MC College campus by Badrul, then a leader of the BCL's Shahjalal University of Science and Technology unit.

She received severe injuries to her brain, neck, hands and legs in the attack.

Khadiza was brought to Dhaka's Square Hospital the following day in critical condition, amidst a wave of protests.

She underwent three surgeries and was put on life support until Oct 13.

Since then her condition has improved.

She is currently undergoing treatment at the Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP) in Dhaka’s Savar.
