100-member Bangladesh Youth Delegation reaches New Delhi

The 100-member Bangladesh Youth Delegation has reached New Delhi on Sunday to visit different cities at the invitation of the Indian government.

This is the fifth year in a row such delegation is visiting India.

The Indian High Commission in Dhaka said the delegation, comprising 50 young women and 50 men, drawn from different regions of the country, diverse backgrounds and educational institutions of Bangladesh.

They include doctors, artists, sportspersons, journalists, engineers, models, radio jockeys, humanities and science students, and social workers.

Apart from New Delhi, they will visit Agra, Ahmedabad and Kolkata and see prominent cultural and historical sites, and business centres.

They will also engage in interactions with the youth of India in educational, business, IT and technological institutions during the visit until Dec 11.

The High Commission organised a flagging off ceremony for the Bangladesh delegation on Dec 2.

High Commissioner Harsh Vardhan Shringla, State Minister for Youth and Sports Dr. Biren Sikder, and Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Md. Abul Kalam Azad, who is also the President of the Bangladesh Scout, addressed them at the ceremony.

Celebrated cricketers Mustafizur Rahman and Mehedi Hasan Miraz and model Jannatul Ferdoush Peya were also present.

The High Commission also launched a Bangla version of its website, www.hcidhaka.gov.in, said a statement.
