However, Bangladesh foreign ministry officials told bdnews24.com that they were working on fixing Dec 17 and 18 as the dates for the visit.

"As always, these matters are being discussed in a spirit of friendship," India’s Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Vikas Swarup said in New Delhi on Saturday quoted by the Indian news agency, PTI.

"Prime Minister Modi has extended an invitation to Bangladesh Prime Minister Hasina to visit India and the invitation has been accepted,” he said.

“Details of the visit, including the dates and programme elements, are still being worked out by the ministry with the Bangladeshi High Commission in New Delhi as well as the Bangladeshi authorities in Dhaka,” he added.

The official also dismissed as "imaginative" the contents of media reports regarding the issue.
