The court, however, denied bail to five other officials, including the owner’s son, in the case and sent them to jail on Wednesday.

Former BNP MP from Sylhet Syed Mokbul Hussain owns Tampaco Foils.

Following a High Court order, Hussain and five other on Wednesday surrendered to the Gazipur District and Sessions Judge's court.

“The court granted Mokbul (Hussain) bail until Jan 4, while the others, including his son, have been sent to jail,” said court police’s Inspector Rabiul Islam.

On Sep 10, a fire broke out following an explosion which swept the factory at Tongi in Gazipur, killing at least 34 workers. As many as 40 others were injured.
Two cases, one by a victim’s family and the other by police have been initiated over the incident.
