Khulna District Speedy Trial Tribunal judge MA Rob Howladar set the date for the verdict on Monday, after the state and the defence finished presenting their arguments, said state advocate Enamul Haque.

On Jan 15, 2004 a bomb attack near the Khulna Press Club led to the death of Manik Chandra Saha.

The Ekushey Padak winner had been a correspondent for the Daily Sangbad and the BBC.

According to advocate Enamul, the court will deliver its verdict on two cases related to the murder on Wednesday - a murder case and one under the Explosive Substances Act.

Ten suspects have been accused in the two cases.

Of these suspects, ‘Mithun’, ‘Bulbul’ alias ‘Bulu’ and ‘Akram’ alias Bomaru Akram are out on bail.

‘Shujon’ alias ‘Nuruzzaman’ and Md Akbar Ali Biswas are in prison.

‘Sattar’ alias Disco Sattar, ‘Saka’ alias ‘Sakhawat’, ‘Bellal’, ‘Soro’ alias ‘Sarwar’ and Shawkat Hossain are currently at large.

The trial had taken longer than expected due to delays in witness testimony, said advocate Enamul.
