Ex-BCL leader Badrul charged for attempted murder of Khadiza

A court has ordered trial for a former leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League for attempting to murder a college girl in Sylhet.

Khadiza Begum Nargis was brutally hacked with a sharp weapon outside MC College, where she went to take her honours examination on Oct 3.

Badrul Alam, a former leader of the ruling Awami League’s student wing, was indicted at Sylhet’s Chief Metropolitan Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Badrul was caught by locals just after he attacked Khadiza with a machete.

An accounting student at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), Badrul was removed as vice-president of the university’s Chhatra League unit after the attack.
