The suspects have been identified as former employees of the Taiwanese couple's firm Md Saju Mia, Md Raju Mia, and Md Ebayedul Haque Swapan, and their house help Halima Begum.

They were captured during a raid on a house in Uttara by the Rapid Action Battalion-1 on Thursday night, said RAB spokesperson Mizanur Rahman on Friday morning.

Wang Ming Chi, 54, and his wife Li Li Hwa, 50 were attacked on Nov 5 last year.

The three attackers hacked them with sharp weapons and robbed them of Tk 600,000.

Police claimed the attackers are relatives and arrested one ‘Jagangir’, a former employee at the couple's business, Xin Xing Yang International Company Limited.

A search was on for Jahangir’s two brothers-in-law, ‘Saju’ and ‘Raju’, also past employees for the couple.

“The three attacked the house primarily for the money,” Deputy Commissioner Bidhan Tripura of Dhaka Metropolitan Police had said.

The couple have been living in Bangladesh for more than a decade. PVC doors and ceilings are manufactured in their factory at Gazipur’s Gachha.

Wang is the company’s managing director and his wife is a partner.
