A bail made on his behalf was rejected by Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Umme Saraban on Thursday, said Public Prosecutor Mesbah Uddin Siraj.

He was sent back through the Sutarkandi immigration check post to Sylhet’s Biyanibazar around 3pm on Thursday.

He was handed over by the BSF and India’s immigration police to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and police, said Sylhet Additional Superintendent of Police Sugyan Chakma.

Police then took him to Sylhet City, where he was taken to court.

Earlier, Assam police arrested Ragib Ali for illegal overstay, after refusing to clear a renewal of his visa, which had already been extended twice on grounds of medical treatment.

He fled to India on Aug 11 after a court ordered his and his son Abdul Hye ’s arrest for grabbing a temporality of Tarapur Tea Estate, worth millions, by forging land ministry documents.
