Ashulia’s lighter factory fire claims another teenage worker's life

Another worker has died after sustaining severe burns in a fire at a cigarette lighter factory in Dhaka’s Ashulia.

Rocky Aktar had suffered 70 percent burns in the fire at Colour Max (BD) on Tuesday afternoon.

She died at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital around 11am Thursday, said Dr Partha Shankar Pal of the Burn Unit. 

The 18-year-old’s death takes the death toll in the fire to two.

Earlier, Akhi, a 16-year-old, died of 30 percent burns on the night after the fire. 

Eighteen more victims, all females, were under treatment at the Burn Unit in Dhaka Medical College and Hospital. None, doctors said, are out of danger.
