PM Hasina in Sylhet

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has reached Sylhet where she will inaugurate multiple projects and address a public rally.

A helicopter carrying the Awami League chief landed at Sylhet’s Osmani International Airport around 12pm Thursday.She also visited shrines of Hazrat Shahjalal and Hazrat Shah Paran.

The prime minister will lay foundation stones and inaugurate projects and pay tribute at the Shahid Minar at Rikabibazar’s Madan Mohan College before taking part in the diamond jubilee celebrations of the educational institute.

She will then deliver a key-note address at a mass rally organised by the Awami League at Alia Madrasa in the afternoon.

Before addressing the rally, the prime minister will formally inaugurate various projects from a programme at Alia Madrasa field.

Meanwhile, Sylhet wore a festive look with roads and dividers freshly renovated and flower plants planted at major points of the city.

“Security in the city has been beefed up in view of prime minister’s visit. A six-layer security ring has been thrown around the city,” said Sylhet Metropolitan Police’s Additional Deputy Commissioner Rahmat Ullah.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina visited the city last time on Feb 28, 2014 when she inaugurated the Sylhet Cricket Stadium and also addressed a mass rally.
